DU Meter is a network utility that monitors your bandwidth usage from/to Internet as well as from/to your local network. The program offers you a visual indicator that allows you to know the incoming and outgoing network traffic rates in real time, plus a list of the programs that are receiving or sending information currently. Besides, you count on hourly, daily, weekly and monthly reports that help you evaluate your bandwidth usage in the long term.

This utility installs a very small, semi-transparent window on your screen the contents of which can be rotated among Internet traffic, LAN traffic and Programs. This window is so small that it doesn't interfere with the normal usage of your PC. You can right-click on this window to get access to all the program's functions, like the "Welcome" wizard, the "Totals and reports" window, the user and administrator options windows and the "Network connections viewer". This window offers you possibilities like filtering the traffic monitor by IP address or network adapter and selecting the information that will appear in the program's main window. Moreover, you can set this window to appear automatically when the average transmission rate exceeds certain threshold. The program even allows you to set a cost per megabyte, along with a free allowance and a weekend rate, for you to make a general idea about the total cost of your data transfer for a specific period of time.

Finally, the program allows you to configure short-period and long-period alerts and set an e-mail address to receive automatic notifications. DU Meter keeps all the collected information on a database that you can backup and restore so that you can recover it even after you reinstall the program.
